Leica Geosystems Adds Mapping Specialist Jon Gipson to California Team

Gipson will draw from his extensive understanding of GNSS, coordinate systems, 3D laser scanning and their related workflows to assist surveying and engineering professionals in Southern California with their technology needs.

The use of augmented reality in survey fieldwork to help create and maintain digital parcel boundaries; sophisticated and precise regional high-precision networks that revolutionize infrastructure; a modernized National Spatial Reference System; the benefits and limitations of drone-derived point clouds—these are just a few of the complexities of modern surveying. In Southern California, issues like these along with a general desire to stay on the leading edge of technology are driving a growing need for knowledgeable professionals who can assist in technology guidance and support.

Recognizing this need, Leica Geosystems, a Hexagon company, has expanded its Southern California team of representatives with the addition of Jon Gipson, a GIS and mapping specialist with 20 years of experience managing complex 3D spatial data. A self-described “tech junkie,” Gipson has spent most of his career in a consultative role, helping both large and small firms implement technology solutions that positively impact the bottom line and the organization as a whole.

“I’m excited about meeting new clients, developing close relationships and providing viable solutions.”

– Jon Gipson

Based in Southern California, Gipson will draw from his extensive understanding of GNSS, coordinate systems, 3D laser scanning and their related workflows to assist surveying and engineering professionals in the region with their technology needs. But while this knowledge is helpful, he says, where he really excels is in “cultivating strong relationships, going the extra mile, providing new solutions, and adding/finding value in new market verticals for my clients.”

According to California Director of Sales Jason Paris, this service-centric approach precisely aligns with the vision of the entire California team—and Leica Geosystems overall. “Hexagon and Leica Geosystems are recognized innovation leaders in surveying and engineering technology, but exceptional service is the heart and soul of what we bring to the market,” he says. “Professionals know they can count on us to deliver not just hardware and software, but also experienced training, support and assistance to fully maximize their investment and grow their business. We are happy to welcome Jon to our team and look forward to the value he will bring to professionals in Southern California.”
